This Just In...

Telling our family the big news was one of the happiest days of my life. Dave & I went over to share the news with my Dad & step-Mom (Mike & Tanya Frantz). We walked into their house, sat down for what felt like eternity (which in reality was only about 10 minutes) when I blurted out “I’M PREGNANT!” My Dad’s face & reaction was great – he didn’t believe me. He said: “REALLY??” After I confirmed the good news (and ensured them it wasn’t some April fools joke) they were thrilled. Tanya kept saying “This is SO cool!” But, I’ll never forget the moment my Dad & I locked our tear-filled eyes because I could feel the excitement, love and joy without him saying a word.

Next, we went to my Mom & step-Dad’s house (Linda & Bill Parker). It was Mom’s birthday and we were heading over there for dinner. We couldn’t think of a better time to tell them they would be Grandparents (again)! Dave & I put one of the positive pregnancy tests into a gift bag and wrapped it. Her reaction to our gift was PRICELESS because she couldn’t figure out what it was! After a couple of minutes of staring at the test, Bill yelled: “I know what it is!!!” Everyone laughed. I told her to put on her reading glasses so she could read the wording on the test “Pregnant/Not Pregnant”, but that still didn’t help. She finally took a stab at it and guessed: “Is it a nail file??” At this point we were all hysterically laughing! I informed her that Dave & I were expecting. Mom was ECSTATIC!!! She busted out yelling/screaming and smiling ear to ear throughout her birthday dinner. Later she said it was the BEST birthday present!

Later, the same evening we went to my in-laws (Dave & Joan Schindler) to tell them a baby was on the way. Once we broke the news, they couldn’t have been happier. Dave’s Dad joked about Dave having chest pains because he found out he was going to be the father (it was really because he bruised his chest playing basketball), but it was funny – LOL.
