"I Hope You Like the Color of Your Shirt"

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. Meeting/seeing our child for the first time was absolutely priceless! The day started by Dave putting on a stripped blue short sleeve shirt and I, a three quarter length v-neck pink shirt...I wonder what we were both hinting - LOL.

We arrived at Dr. Horlacher's office early for a change, it was like Christmas in September and we wanted to be on time. After sitting in the waiting room for about 10-15 minutes (watching the Today Show covering the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks), my name was called. Carmela (who I called Carmen throughout the whole appointment - oops!) took us to room #2 where the ultrasound equipment was setup. She began by measuring the baby, showing us where the head, feet, eyes, and stomach were. I started crying. I couldn't help it - it was one of the most beautiful sights, it was our child. Next, Carmela said "I hope you like the color of your shirt" - you're having a GIRL! It was like a chill raced through my body...I was ecstatic! I looked over at Dave and we just smiled at each other. He was thrilled too.

Most men (and Dave is no exception), have always dreamed of having a son. He imagined himself coaching little league, teaching him how to shoot a basketball and how to throw a spiral. I know Dave has constantly joked about only having a son, but after seeing our little girl and viewing the ultrasound pictures of her I knew he was sincerely happy.

Dave says he'll now be outnumbered in our house, but he's wrong...it's now three to two!!! (We can't forget about our boys - Oscar/Rudi.)
