Tonight Dave & I completed our fourth and final childbirth class. The discussion was way more interesting than from previous weeks. We discussed what immediately happens after labor, breast/bottle feeding & general child safety tips. All of the information was extremely helpful. Most of my questions tonight centered around breastfeeding (i.e., how to know when you’re child is eating/getting enough milk, when you can “officially” start pumping, what brand of pump MVH recommended, etc.). Like usual, I think I embarrassed Dave. After a few questions, he said: “okay, no more questions from you (meaning me) or else we’re going to have to stay late”. The funniest part of the class was when Dave leaned over and whispered to me: “another breastfeeding question from you and I’m going to assume you’re going to be a boob for Halloween this year!” LOL!
I left class tonight feeling great – well educated. I’m now confident that Payton & I will be well taken care of at “The Valley” (as Julie always referred to MVH). Prior to taking our childbirth classes I was nervous. Nervous because I had no idea what to expect. My fears have slowly diminished (as have most of my questions). I’m comforted in knowing if I have a symptom or if I time my contractions I’ll know what “phase” I’m in and what to do - thanks to Julie!

Ah-hem and thanks to your cousin Mandy! :-)
I have the Medela Pump In Style. It was a double and it was wonderful! At one point I had over 50 bags in the freezer, so a weekend trip to see grandma could be possible. I even pumped with the battery pack in an airport bathroom. I would feed him on one side and pump the other at the same time. 10 1/2 months of only bf'dg and I was exhausted. My child has never had an ear infection or been ill. He's 27 months now. Tell Dave you may be a boob this year and NEXT! - SJ
